Here is an amazing video that I found on Google Video created by Chris Abraham. This is a 45 minute video that shows you all the in’s and out’s of Wordpress.com, the free alternative to blogger.com blogging.

While I agree with Chris that WP is better than Blogger… I think people would be better off using a CMS like Joomla.
Then again… to each their own - was a great instructional video.

Joomla is awesome. Unfortunately, it is not quite as “user friendly” as blogging programs such as Wordpress. Also, Wordpress is a SEO magnet pretty much out of the box. Joomla, is very nice though… and packed full of features. But again, the common blogger who has little to no computer experience and or programming experience, is going to have a difficult time installing, configuring and maintaining Joomla or others similar.
You are right though, there is a huge world open to everyone outside from blogging. I agree 100%.
For people who want to take things to a higher level, give Open Source CMS a shot. This site is awesome. You can try over 100 various opensource programs via live demo before you invest the time into downloading and installing on your own site.
