The Most Useful Blog Tips

As I continue to write to my blog I gain more experience by learning more about Wordpress, Google, PHP programming and HTML. As the years tick by, I have had some memorable moments where I have stumped upon a few home run blog tips that have impacted or even changed my perspective on how I blog.
I want to open up a discussion here and invite you to share with the readers here some of your most treasured blog tips. I am talking about tips that made you want to slap yourself for not thinking of it yourself. If can be anything. There is no right or wrong answer.
What is the one blog tip you have taken in that has held the most weight towards the success of your blog?
Examples:
Discovering MyBlogLog, making friends with so and so, using this Wordpress theme, changing over from Blogger.com to Wordpress, using a sitemap.xml file, Changing your writing style, using FeedBurner, etc..
What is one thing that you have discovered that has totally changed how you blog? What is one thing that has worked so well that you would never go back to the old ways of doing things? And lastly, lets give credit where credit is due; who told you about it or where did you discover it (include links if possible). If your comment gets held for moderation, don’t worry about it, as I will approve it very quickly.
I look forward to hearing what you have to say. It doesn’t matter if your discovery was two years ago or yesterday. I want to hear about it!

The best tip for me, was blogging itself. I’ve been a freelance writer on the Internet for almost 10 years now, but didn’t start blogging until about a year and a half ago. I’d heard about it, but at that time, it was mostly personal journals talking about what so and so’s kid had for lunch.
It wasn’t until I began to read the blogs of professional writers that it clicked. These wonderful people were telling about their latest books, articles, and so on. That’s when I realized the true potential in blogging. I’ve created a few blogs over the past couple years that gave me the creative outlet that I’d been looking for, but wasn’t sure how to let others know about them.
Now that I’ve learned that part, I’m thinking about bringing a few of those previous blogs back to life. A few of them aren’t worth worrying about, but there were a couple of them that I’d like to see back up and running.

Blogging is powerful. There is more business in blogging than one would believe. I would love to land a job writing for a corporation or a large company. I wouldn’t do much differently than I already do now. Only difference is that I would run a blog and be their official spokesperson for the blogosphere. Now, that would be a cool job!
