Joost,

LOL... I don't build mailboxes, this was a hypothetical instance. Also the targeting keywords in this example were Custom Mailbox Builder...

either way... there is always a challenge and a balance between finding a domain name that is perfect for your site and one that is available. So I am glad that you made the comment, because for this instance I have already written an article that talks more about that. When and if you come to a situation when a domain name that you want is taken, never sacrifice by choosing a domain name that is less relevant than what you want. It is better to step down and select a .net, .org, etc... search engines for the most part don't care if the domain name is a .com, .net, .org, etc... the search engine is more concerned with keyword density and if you sacrifice crucial keywords in your domain name just to get the .com version of the domain name, you are doing yourself and your site a disservice.

But if I'm looking for a mailbox builder I would search for mailbox builder in Google.

And some geek at some internet company in Berkeley, CA apparently had the same idea as you 2 years ago and registered mailboxbuilder.com... It for sale, LOL
