The Ultimate Google SEO and SERP Secret

Free Web Designs

Ok. The cat is out of the bag on this one. Here is the ultimate Google SEO and SERP secret. This is one of those little secrets that professional bloggers DON’T share. Why? Because… Some people just want to have the Google SERP all to themselves. The secret is out and all fingers will be pointing at me! (Sorry about that!) In this article I am revealing a major Google SEO Secret that every blogger should know about.

All posts from blogs will eventually make it to Google’s SERP. How effective and high up your post resides on the SERP is based on a few factors: Your Google PageRank, BackLinks, and Keyword Density.

Most Wordpress Themes include this (or similar) in their header.php file:

<title><?php bloginfo(‘name’); ?> – <?php bloginfo(‘description’); ?><?php wp_title(); ?></title>

or…

<title><?php bloginfo(‘name’); ?> <?php if ( is_single() ) { ?> &raquo; Blog Archive <?php } ?> <?php wp_title(); ?></title>

And what happens, as times goes by and Google starts indexing your content you are left with listing in Google like this:

Bryan’s Rants » Blog Archive » This Week In Wisconsin Sports

Congrats goes out to the Wisconsin Badgers football team for having their best year in nearly 80 years! Also, our new coach set a record for the most wins

or this…

Bryan’s Rants » Blog Archive » Will the Bucks Keep the Season Alive?

Will the Bucks Keep the Season Alive? The Milwaukee Bucks started 1-0 this season and actually defeated the Pistons! Tonight however is going to be quite a

You might ask, “What is wrong with this?”

Answer: Plenty!

When your pages get indexed in Google, these are your doors or entrance ways to your site. In general, the more doors or entrance ways (posts and pages) you have on your site, the more ways people can get in and say hello!

The problem with the above is: No one can find your doors (posts and pages) when they search for it using the Google Search Bar.

A very quick and easy fix to this problem is doing this:

<title><?php wp_title(”); ?> <?php bloginfo(‘name’); ?></title>

Which is basically switching the title around. Now Google will list the title of your article first and then your site name. And if you have correctly optimized your site you should have named your site using your primary marketing keywords that I have talked about many times on this site. Additionally, if you have corrected optimized your site, you would name the title of your posts using as many of these primary and relevant keywords that I have talked about many times on this site. And lastly, if you have correctly optimized your site, you would have used these primary and relevant keywords within your actual post. It’s called Keyword Density and It’s called Controlling Your Content .

I have had my site up for about two weeks, and here is what Google has to say about me and my site:

… are just to name two.

My primary keyword groups that I am focusing on:

Google SEO, Successful Blogging, Online Marketing, Garry Conn

Secondary keyword groups that back up and support the primary keyword groups:

Google SEO Tips, Successful Blogging Tips, Online Marketing Tips

Every single article I publish is relevant to these terms. Every single article I publish the title is relevant to these primary and secondary keyword groups. The content inside my articles are all grouped and related to these primary and secondary keyword groups. The URL of these articles are all optimized for primary and secondary keyword density and relevancy.

What is deep linking? How To improve Google SEO… these are all relevant words related to this site’s primary and secondary keyword groups.

Further more… look at the name of my categories… this is an example of a third and forth level of keyword groups that are relevant and back up the secondary and primary keyword groups.

/how-to

and…

/improve-google-seo

I have three primary categories on this site. All are titled exactly like the primary keyword groups I am targeting.

The /how-to added in front is a forth level word that is logical and relevant in a common search term on Google:

How To Improve Google Seo

My site is new… there is no doubt about that. However, three to six months from now, when this site gets out of the sandbox, and Google can see that my content is unique, useful and informative and true to what is being advertised. My BASE will deliver an unimaginable amount of traffic from Google’s SERP.

Because again, time and contribution = backlinks.

Backlinks = Increased Google PageRank

Increased Google PageRank = More Weight in the GSERP’s.

More weight in the GSERP = More Traffic

More traffic = Success!

And what more do we all want in life? Success! Success! Success!

Stick around, bookmark my pages, articles, and visit often… because my success is helping you. My success is not becoming #1 in GSERP. It’s my job. My job is to become #1 so that I can fulfill my goals of being successful: Which is helping you be a successful blogger! Read what I write, ask questions, my goal is to help you succeed.

What can I do to help you become a successful blogger?

[...] A thanks goes out to Garry Conn. Garry Conn’s website focuses quite a bit on SEO and he can help you change your WordPress blog around and get it more popular. The nice thing about Garry’s site is the fact that it focuses SEO around WordPress. A lot of sites want to tell you rights and wrongs with your normal every day sites, but this is the first I have came across that helps you customize WordPress. Anyone out there that has WordPress I would highly recommend visiting his site. Also, he takes questions and helps fix your problems. A good example is this post where he uses my site for examples after I asked him what I could do to better my site. Thanks again Garry. [...]

There goes my ability to charge 1,000 for a service Garry gives away free! Just kidding! Good post though.

You are welcome, being presented with situation on your site made me realize that this is a problem that many other sites have but don’t realize. And honestly, it is a powerful modification towards improving your GSEO and SEO. And people that already know about it, tend to not want to share that information with others because of it’s power.

Thanks for the mention on your site!

Best Regards,
Garry Conn

Hey Jim,

Wow… I didn’t really think about that…

Ok, I am going to start charging $500! or we can together charge $1,000 and we split it and run…

Joking. :)

I am really sorry if this is a situation where the truth comes out in humor. Perhaps I should set up a section for paid services where viewers can go who don’t want to make attempts at SEO and I can list a handful of designers there in that section?

I don’t want to rob anyone from profits, but on the flip side, I DO want to communicate to everyone that there are many things that people can do on their own if they try. However, there are tons of people that would rather play golf and pay a designer to do the work…

So, are you in this line of work? If so, then I will create a section and you will be the first to be listed once I get to know a little more about your business profile and history. I would be glad to set up a section where viewers can go if they don’t want to DIY (Do it Yourself).

No problem Garry and no I don’t offer to charge a large sum like that when in fact I believe that apps like wordpress set up the blogs in this fashion to begin with. We charge to set up blogs, but also tout the fact that blogs come with a certain amount of SEO built into them. I found your article very informative and in fact ran to look at all of my sites to make sure they were correctly set up. I should say that I have had clients that pay huge sums of money for SEO and when I see what has been done, this is something that would be charged in that type of fashion. I am always amazed at how much people pay for SEO yet scream and holler at a simple blog set up.

7 Garry Conn { 01.17.07 at 6:22 pm }

Jim,

True that! It is a known fact that people do pay “Big Bucks” for SEO and other marketing services but bark at the idea of paying someone to professionally setup a site. And yes, I would guess that there would be a value for the work I could do for someone. Blogs for the most part are definitely Google Bot magnets! Without a doubt. And that is why people are finding so much success with just a little amount of effort and work. Additionally, that is why larger companies are turning to blogs.

These little tweaks as I mention here are just an added little effort one could make towards harnessing the power of Wordpress or other blogging programs.

Great post Gary. I knew about this from building static websites, but hadn’t, yet, had time to find how to rewrite page titles in WordPress.

What I did was create a conditional statement that lists my site name and description on the homepage and then lists the post title, site name and description on subsequent pages.

I have a bit of work to do on keywords, but when I do, I’ll make the updates you suggest as well.
