Time To Do Some Google Reader Maintenance

Free Web Designs

For all my new blogging readers, I wanted to take a moment to tell you about Google Reader. I can’t assume that everyone knows about Google Reader, so I wanted to take a brief moment to tell you about it if you don’t already know about it. Google reader is a free program offered by Google that allows you to take all your RSS feed subscriptions and put them into one central location. The program has a lot of really cool tools that enables you to stay organized with your subscriptions, enables you to share cool things you read with friends and enables you a way to save things that are important to you.

Now, with that said, don’t do what I do with your Google Reader. I have subscribed to so many RSS feeds, because at the time I thought would be cool, and unfortunately, I have filled my account up with over 1,000 unread articles. There is no way I can read all these items, so tonight I am going to just wipe EVERYTHING out and start over from scratch. Google Reader is an excellent tool and it is unfortunate that I have never really taken full advantage of its features.

Once I clean out my account and subscribe to the few blogs and news feeds that I truly enjoy reading on a daily basis, I will be very much more happy and also in a position to actually provide better articles here on my own personal blog. Anyway, if you have never heard of Google Reader or have never taken the time to set up an account, you really should because it is very useful, as long as you DON’T DO what I did and fill it up with hundreds of RSS subscriptions.

Anyway, wish me luck with cleaning up my account, and also I hope you’re not on my shit list… otherwise you are getting the boot! ;)

This happens about every few months with you :P

In another few months you will make another post saying you have 1,000+ posts to read and that you are deleting everything and starting over ;)

Seems that they have changed the design of Google Reader. And the old design looks better.

I just went through my feed reader a couple days ago. No matter what reader you use, you should go through it a couple times a year and clean out the things you never look at. I realized that I’ve changed my reading habits since I first started subscribing to various sites, and there were even a couple that hadn’t updated in several months.

Hope you kept my sites in your reader, I need all the help I can get. LOL. I’d hate to lose one of my 9 subscribers.

I’ve been using iGoogle to keep up with some of my favorite sites. How does Google Reader compare to iGoogle?

I like the new design, btw. How long will this one last?

cd :O)

iGoogle is pretty cool, I actually have a tab set up for a few of my faves. ;)

I do like having everyone in one place a little better though.

This may make many of you shudder, but ALL my feeds go to my email. I NEVER remember to check a reader, and that does either party no good. LOL

Garry – upgrade to CL 2.5.4…all others are going to completely stop working soon. ;)
