Top Affiliate Challange - Garry Conn Attempts To Mend Relationship With Collin De Ruyck
Collin De Royck, Thor Schrock, Top Affiliate Challenge
Thor, why don’t you just let me let my blog die!!! Anyway, Thor Schrock, an online bud I have known back before Joel Comm’s The Next Internet Millionaire show I guess caught wind of my previous post where I said that I was going to quit blogging on my personal blog. He was pissed and thought that would be a stupid idea. LOL!!!
So, anyway I am going to chill for a bit and continue to do the things that I need to do. But I do thank everyone for their emails and I do thank Thor for his phone call. That really did perk me right up.
Speaking of Thor, are you guys watching Top Affiliate Challenge? This show is awesome. I am very happy to see that Thor was able to pull all the elements together to create such a very entertaining and educational show. For one, I am very impressed with the sponsors… a lot of shows have to have sponsors to help fund their operation. Some how Thor has found sponsors that I am actually INTERESTED IN.
The great thing about Top Affiliate Challenge is the fact that I know most of the people on the show. Obviously I know ShoeMoney and John Chow, but also I know quite a few of the players as well.
One of the players I actually had a falling out with last year and I would like to try and rebuild the BRIDGE that I burned with him.
Here is a special video shout out to Collin De Royck. Last year we got into it a little bit and haven’t talked since. This isn’t healthy or a smart thing since we both have so much in common. At any rate, in this video I explain to Collin that I am going to help the XY7.com team in any way that I can to help them advance in the contest.

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I am going to go back to QUITTING my blog and go get drunk and blow my hand off shooting fireworks. ![]()

overall I like the show but it’s also pretty annoying. I wish they didn’t try so hard to be a “professional” production by trying to emulate television “reality” show structure and such. It would have been better off it is was just a bit more loose…or if they just accepted the corniness of it and had fun with it instead of trying to stay too serious. For example, the host, although you can tell she is trying hard, just doesn’t pull it off in that tone. And because of that it makes the show seem all the more cheesy. If she was able to just have a little more fun, less scripted and more “personality” it would probably flow much nicer. Right now it just seems like she is trying way to hard to play to the camera and trying way to hard to be a “real” tv show and it hurts the watch-ability a bit in my opinion.
And of course then there is the whole concept that kind of blows. Rather than seeing who the top affiliate is on an even playing field we are just seeing who has the most current resources, friends, cash and is willing to take advantage of that. Rather than keeping the rules a bit tighter where everyone can only use “show resources” and not reach out, which kills the whole idea, it turns more into like sitting down and playing poker for the world championship but instead of everyone starting with the same chips the guy that has a million bucks of his own money can sit down and just out bet everyone all the way through.
Although it looks like they are watching what people say and trying to add in some things…like some actual tips!, more of that would be nice. I personally thought we were going to get to see them plan and build actual campaigns and other ideas to draw in but loads of cash. But so far we have just seen them call in to their affiliate managers to switch over their current campaigns.
At least we have the silly drama that makes it somewhat fun. But instead of a real learning resource or a real competition of skill all we end up with is a web soap opera.
I’ll probably keep watching but definitely let down and lost a lot of the hype.
