Tutorial Books For Bloggers

Free Web Designs

Learning how to blog can be difficult for people. I often wonder how different things would have been for me if I had read tutorial books that were designed to help me become a better blogger. Hey! Who said it was too late for me? The strange thing about blogging is the fact that the people who become bloggers are already writers or people who discovered later in life that they actually enjoy writing. However, majority of bloggers really don’t know too much about computers, web design and programming. Granted, for the most part, people who read my site are web savvy. But if you take a second to step back and see how diverse the blogosphere is, you will quickly discover how small the tech blogger niche and the make money online niche is compared to the rest of the niches within the blogosphere.

The blogosphere consists of a huge world of topics. Thousands of people blog or want to blog about many things. Horses, gardens, parenting, crafts, scrapbooking and life in general and to name a few. The reality of the situation is the simple fact that there are more people who want to blog successfully compared to the ones that actually do blog successfully. How do you become a successful blogger? And this is not held in terms of making money. There are millions of bloggers who blog for different purposes other than having the desire to make money online.

What about books? Do you think book can help people learn more about blogging? I think books are great. I think if an emerging blogger really wanted to find success in blogging, that person would purchase a few books. If I had it to do over again, bypassing all my trials and errors, I would want a few books. And I still do! I would want to find a book that gave me a general overview of the history of the Internet and how it has evolved into this term we call “Web 2.0″. I would want a separate book that talked about blogging. This blogging book would touch on Wordpress. The third book I would want would be a book specifically written about Wordpress. Coupled with these collections of books, I would also want a book that teaches me about Google and their wonderful search engine. Lastly, it would be helpful to own a book about PHP programming and MySQL.

Having all that said, I would like to ask for your suggestions? I want anyone who stumbles upon this post in a search for some good books to see a bunch of wonderful and useful references within the comments. I would love to reach out and help others find success in blogging. What are some good books that you have read that helped you find your own personal success in blogging?

What kind of books do you recommend for new bloggers? Is there a particular book that you have read that helped you become a more successful blogger? Is there a particular book that you plan in purchasing in the near future. With all the new bloggers who stumble upon this article, I want to invite you to drop a comment and share your recommendations of some books that you feel will help new bloggers.  I look very forward to reading each and every response.

I have never read a ‘real paper’ book about blogging. The only book that has helped me blog was ‘The Idiots Guide To HTML’ which I used way back to learn the basics.

I think a problem with blogger books is that they would go out of date and get behind the times it could be hard for the author to make much of a success of it. Perhaps that’s why the online SEO book has had so much success, because you get sent the updates.

I actually just purchased a book this weekend at my local Barnes and Noble. It is simply titled Wordpress 2. I am a beginner at the web and especially Wordpress, and it has given me an insight to how the blogging program works and how to tweak it to your liking. I would highly recommend it to anyone just starting out.

I’d suggest:

Clear Blogging by Bob Walsh

and

Blogging Tips What bloggers won’t tell you about blogging

All I read was a quick crash course in blogging, an unofficial book and it wasn’t even up for selling… LOL!

It had everything you can expect from a good book, from how to start, how to write and even the blogging ethics.

But, the biggest source for learning was networking and researching, and trial-error!

My family has teased me for years that I only read reference material, stuff like, PHP programming, ASP, HTML Bible, CSS, XML Handbook etc, etc…

Over the last year I have read 4 books, and they have all contributed something to the success I am having with blogging and making money.

Clear Blogging by Bob Walsh
Naked Conversations by Robert Scoble and Shel Israel
The AdSense Code by Joel Comm
The 4-Hour Workweek by Timothy Ferriss

The Adsense book was really interesting, I have been on Adsense longer than the author, and I knew everything he talked about. But, there were a couple of things that I only tried after reading that book. And my Adsense income doubled after trying some things he said that I had just convinced myself against.

Sometimes it is just hearing the same thing from someone else.

Hi Garry, I have my own small business writing fresh copy or revamping existing copy for company websites as well as text designed for print.
I’d really like to increase the traffic to my site – the main problems being my lack of technical knowledge + a lack of time to really learn how it’s done and a very limited budget. I was born at a time before computers were in general use and had to start from absolute scratch about five years ago. I keep getting contradictory advice from other business people I speak to.
Could you please advise me in simple terms? (Imagine you’re speaking to a two-year-old and you won’t go far wrong!!)
Yours hopefully,
Josie G
