a couple of months ago I posted about a wp-hack that enables you “hide” articles on topics you don’t usually post (read: off topics). you can make them invisible on your blog’s frontpage as well as feeds so regular readers won’t see them (but SE traffic will).
i don’t know if you think it’s a good idea but hopefully you’ll get both of your readers and the traffic you want.
but if you’re planning on switching to a different target audience, i don’t think you’ll need it

Barbara,
Honestly I do care… I want others to be successful. However, when I started this blog, I thought that I would find success in sharing my knowledge. I was wrong. I have been beating this dead horse for a long time and eventually if you beat a dead horse for an extended period of time, it turns into dog food.
I can’t afford the time towards providing the information I have been. What you can do though, is watch what I do and learn from it and give yourself more credit. You are a wonderful blog writer and have a lot of skill. In due time, you’ll find the right formula and the answers you need.

The advice is good from Net Fool if the purpose of the blog is only to make money. Topic focus is helpful. But, that’s not the purpose of this blog, and as personal blogs go, yours is one of the best. Look at Twitter…man, some of those people talk about the most seemingly innane things. Sometimes it’s amusing, sometimes not. If you don’t like someones rantings and ramblings, then don’t follow them. But, it’s them and that’s all ok. That’s the freedom of the net and the basis of freedome of expression.
Hey - maybe we can hear more about your family? I always loved those posts. But, ultimately, write what you want. I like it no matter what topic you choose.
Vicki

Thanks for putting a smile on my face. As I told Barb above, it shouldn’t be too hard to sniff out the posts that either interest you or don’t via your reader / twitter. I am here to help, but have lost a few fingers in the process after feeding a few dogs who really didn’t need food (if you know what I mean).
I have a decent following in my email mailing list and will probably start to make better use of it.

This is a sincere question by the way, so please do not flame me, that is just what I get from your comment, and I love to learn how others read the blogosphere.

“Once I started reading the new John Cow,and other people who give good tips and actually know what they are doing. I knew that Conn was a fraud. ”
You can define “people who actually know what they are doing”?
Most people who subscribe here would be thrilled to make what Garry makes online, so to them it is pretty valuable. If you are above it, then I can not see where attacking it is of any benefit.
And it would be very arrogant to think that you know what is best for everyone.
And to be clear, Garry and I have probably disagreed more on MMO stuff than anything else, but that certainly does not make him a fraud.
These comments are just more fuel in my fire why I do not like the MMO niche. I can not think of another niche that gets people so wrapped up like this, I guess it is the word MONEY.

Its funny how not too long after Vic says he is done teaching for free, now Garry is fed up with the MMO niche. Coincidence? I think not. Someone who knows what they are doing provides information that can’t be found on a hundred other blogs.
And between this site, and the Debt consolidation site he did when Cow kicked that behind, he doesn’t even rank for anything SEO wise. I could go on and on.

Vic may be smart, but he sure knows how to keep himself down, and that is a real shame. Anyone can spin anything, any direction they want.
Good luck to you in your endeavors.

Silly guy… that wasn’t exactly the type of site where those keywords rank well over night.
I built a site that will stand the test of time. This site in fact was purchased by Jason himself for $850 dollars.
To me, my friend, I call that a huge success for both parties concerned.
As far as the competition goes, I also have written that up as a success. Me and my trusty copy of Micro Niche Finder as well as Google AdWords, SeoBook Keyword Tools, and my common sense all didn’t do too badly going head to head against multiple experienced people.
Jason had multiple people working for him in that project, I had myself and a few much appreciated volunteers. No way is that a failure.

Well, actually you did when (at the time) you decided to join my mailing list which took the format of a teacher / student roll. When you decided that you were too “good” to participate, you got the boot. End of story.
I find it funny how if you don’t get anything resourceful from my blog you still decide to waste your time and read it. COWpetition was like a million years ago…
Besides, it doesn’t matter anymore, you’re now a rich man because you have been following Vic’s blog. I am very happy for your success as that is all I want to see happen for anyone. How’s those $1000/day sites working for you?

Garry Conn a fraud? I don’t see it. If you read enough MMO info you can find some pretty shady characters out there and I haven’t, in my experience, seen Garry do any of that. I guess I am out of the loop of the MMO police - thank goodness as I have so many things to do to make my own living online that I’m too busy to flame anybody!
Don’t you love it, Garry, when people talk about you on your blog like you’re not there - haha! It’s like a very bad prom or something. Thanks for the compliment on my site. It’s coming along nicely.
Vicki
