Update on CowPetition
CowPetition, John Cow dot Com, Johncow.com, Make Money Online
This has been such a very fun month for me. Before I go into the bulk of this post, you know I really have to give a big shout out to the new John Cow and offer him a big thanks. Last month I was really excited to accept a challenge with him. At the time I really didn’t know what to expect. I was uncertain who the owner of the domain name was, if it was really sold, etc. I honestly thought that it was still Bob!
I am humble enough of a guy that I’ll admit, after seeing John Cow’s first lesson, I knew immediately that this wasn’t Bob and that I was obviously in a competition against someone with a lot of experience and quite a bit of resources at his disposal. Needless to say, he whooped my A$$ in the classroom rival part of the competition. But I am totally cool with that because of the amount of time, energy and effort he put forth on teaching so many people such wonderful things.
I could have done a better job, but even if I had done my absolute best during this month, I would still not have been able to bring out the same amount of information the John Cow and his mystery team did. I am actually quite impressed with how much work they did, it’s really awesome.
At any rate, the original “Game” is to see who can sell their niche blog for the most money in SitePoint.com. So, while John Cow may have done a much better job in teaching how to make money online, I am still very much looking forward to getting back in touch with John Cow and getting both our sites listed. I haven’t spoken with Cow in about two weeks, which is understandable, we have both been very busy. I am sure with the CowPetition coming to an end, we’ll get in touch soon.
For now, I really wanted to thank all my readers who helped me in this game and my team of volunteers who worked side by side with me in our projects. I’ll mention you guys in a later post when the time is right.
This experience has been really cool for me because I too pushed myself quite hard to do something that normally would take me a few months to complete. One thing I have learned coming out of this competition is that it is really difficult to build a niche blog from scratch and have it completely done and ready to flip or re-sell within 30 days. To me, I think 90 days would be a more relaxed time frame.
During my 30 days, I did good. I was able to identify a great niche, find a very good domain name, create a custom WordPress theme, create my own graphics, organize a huge group writing effort that produced over 25 high quality articles for the blog, wrote around 10 myself, promoted most all of the articles in the social networks, managed to find a very wonderful and skilled writer to draft a 16 page eBook, manged to recruit an entire volunteer publishing and editing team to finalize that eBook and lastly launch the eBook on my niche site as a final product that will be included with the sale of the site.
During this time also, I have accumulated email addresses in an opt in mailing list through Aweber and I have also pieced together a very wonderful bundle package of free downloadable eBooks as a reward for opting into the newsletter.
All in all, I’d say that’s not too bad of results from one guy, who also continued to operate and maintain a million and one other blogs.
Anyway, I am looking forward to seeing what will happen in these auctions. I think it will be a blast to turn all my work over to the SitePoint.com community and allow them to view what I have done and bid accordingly. So, for sure… stay tuned, I’ll be speaking with John Cow very soon and let everyone know when the auction day will be.

P.S. Also the custom WordPress theme that I made for my niche bog, Debt Consolidation Book, is called AFFAdMax. It will be released privately to all my Make Money Online Newsletter subscribers. Outside from that, it will be available for around $250 to $500 dollars depending on various client customization requests. If you haven’t already joined my Make Money Online Newsletter, I suggest that you subscribe soon as I am only going to be sending out “One Round” free download invites. When you join, you’ll instantly be able to Download SEOAdMax, the theme that AFFAdMax is based on. ![]()

Cool update Garry, I love the fact that that you are humble and recognize the value Cow is bringing. I learned a lot in this from both sides, but, most important to me, I found a new pal and mentor that I may have missed if it wasn’t for this “game”
It was a great process to watch, and, I must admit, there has been tons of content, some of it I haven’t even had a chance to read.

Hi Garry,
How much SE traffic is the Debt Consolidation Book getting?

Nice update. I’d be interested in seeing how much you can get from your blog. The countless backlinks coming from garryconn.com itself is enough to make it a worthwhile purchase haha

lol. Did Bob actually go and end up selling the cow? I was pretty harsh on him the last couple months because of how crappy his content had become and it basically just turned into rehashed sales crap and him trying to push off crappy affiliate products. In the first few months, he actually had entertaining content and ’some’ useful “real” content on top. But it didn’t take long to become a waste of space and that is about the time he was trying to sell it off.
I was also surprised to see some good content all of a sudden again. I thought maybe the competition, and whining from people like me lol, might have made Bob get busy with some actual real content and was happy to see it turn around again. But kind of sad that it seems the reason for the turnaround is he is out of the picture lol. Regardless, great to see a change for the better. Hopefully the new owner gets their money worth as my guess is Bob wasted away a good percentage of his early readers.
