Want To Learn How To Create Wordpress Themes?
Want Do Design Wordpress Themes?
Have you been wanting to design your own custom Wordpress theme? I am not sure about you, but I am pretty good with customizing themes to make them work for how I need them on my different sites. I do pretty good with adding features to them, and adding widgets, and things like that… but I have not quite got to the level of expertise where I can create a Wordpress theme totally from scratch.
A really nice guy who goes by the name, Small Potato, has released a wonderful series of posts which are intended to help anyone learn how to create Wordpress themes. The series of posts are truly amazing and I can only imagine how much hard work has gone into writing it and publishing theme. Here is a list of all the posts he has so far:
- So you want to create WordPress themes huh?
- WP Theme Lesson #1: Intro
- WP Theme Lesson #2: Template Files and Templates
- WP Theme Lesson #3: Starting Index.php
- WP Theme Lesson #4: Header Template
- WP Theme Lesson #4b: Header Template Continues
Where Can You Find Small Potato’s Work?
Aside from finding Wordpress themes on his site, I found Small Potato on The Theme Viewer site. Now this site if you haven’t heard of it or visited it, is totally amazing. The site has well over 1000 different Wordpress themes that you can test run directly from the site, download, and add your own personal review on. I feel that Small Potato’s work on The Theme Viewer is one of the best there. So if anything… if you don’t feel like trying to create your own Wordpress themes, then I would view The Theme Viewer and secondly I would look at all the themes that Small Potato as created and uploaded there.
Special thanks goes out to JohnTP.com for creating a post that provided a link to Small Potato’s site. This wasn’t my first visit to the site, but I would have missed this series for sure. John publishes quite a few awesome posts on his site too. Here is a list of his most popular posts found on his site:

Great write up! Interestingly enough, my site uses one of two themes. One is made by JohnTP, and one is made by Small Potato (both based on K2). I’m a regular reader of both sites!

Thanks… K2 is awesome in itself… that theme is in a league of its own.

Well unfortunately, this post has to be removed. Because I do not agree with Small Potato and Themeys business tactics which take advantage of the Wordpress Community. I would rather not fuel the fire by talking about it here… I am sure that anyone who visits the Theme Viewer Site will find my rants over there. In the mean time, I have edited this post and will replace the content with links to a guide from an author who doesn’t take advantage of the Wordpress community.
Best Regards,
Garry Conn

err… I’m innocent! Hehe. Garry, the url comment input form’s label is misspelled. It’s Website not Webseite.

What is misspelled? I am trying to figure that part out. Yes, disregard that comment… at the time I was mistaken and that that you were partners with Themey. No biggie.

In your comment.php file. Search for “Webseite.” It’s supposed to be Website.

Ha! See how helpful it is to have a custom Wordpress theme designer to visit my site! Thank you very much… I am fixing it now. I appreciate that.
