What Do You Think About Aaron Wall’s SEO Book?

with 14 comments

You can make money online by helping Aaron Wall sell his famous SEO Book. The hype on his SEO book has kind of died down a little bit. I remember earlier in 2007 just about every blog I visited had his 125 pixel button graphic on the sidebar.

Many of my readers are active affiliates for Aaron Wall and I was just wondering how many people have actually purchased the book and what your level of satisfaction is with the book? I don’t own the book but just noticed that I received a PayPal.com payment because I have sold two copies. To be honest, I don’t even know which blog those sales were generated from. But, it makes me wonder how much money I could make if I went ahead and purchased the book myself and then actively started promoting it.

The reason why I would purchase it myself is because I don’t want to promote products on my personal blog that I haven’t tried myself. I don’t want to mislead my readers by offering and promoting tons of affiliate based products. However, I wouldn’t mind spreading the word about products that I personally use myself such as Micro Niche Finder.

What are your thoughts about Aaron Wall’s SEO Book? Should I buy it? If so, then do you think I should start promoting it for new readers who visit my blog for the first time? I would love to get your input on this.

  1. Should you buy it? Hmmm. This sounds familiar. Are you asking the MacSurfer.com Community? LOL

  2. I don’t own it and I’m not even signed up as an affiliate. I would be interested in reading it at some point, but I’m not a big fan of reading eBooks. I like to read at work so I prefer actual books. :D

  3. @ DayJobNuker,

I wrote and scheduled this article for publication about a week ago. At the time, I had no idea about MacSurfer.com or the reaction I would be getting from my previous post.

Do you own Aaron Wall’s eBook? I would enjoy reading your opinions about it. :)

    @ Kyle,

I don’t own it either, but I know that a lot of people within our niche that does. I am not very fond of eBooks either. What do you think of Aaron’s blog?

  4. I won my copy in a contest. I started reading it for a while but to be honest, I wasn’t that impressed.

I can’t give a real review or offer any serious opinions because I never finished it. (I don’t think I got halfway through) I seem to remember it being really dry and all of that seo stuff is really kind of over my head anyway.

I could probably be convinced to give you my copy. Maybe a swap for a copy of DynoSites or DynoFeeds or whatever that aggregator was ;)

  5. I purchased the book a couple of years ago, and I really liked it. It is one of the best ebooks I have purchased. It is really comprehensive and covers more than just SEO. Aaron gives free updates to purchasers, and he just came out with a new version, so I have been re-reading it.

It is a very long book, and some may think it is dry, but if you want to make money online, you need to learn this stuff. He does give kind of a synopsis/checklist in the front of the book, if you don’t want to read the whole thing.

So now I’ve helped Garry sell this book. :) Of course, if you really liked my little mini-review, you could come on over to my blog and buy it through my affiliate link. ;) (Just kidding!)

  6. I haven’t read the book before, but I’m assuming it’s another one of those AFFILIATE get-rich schemes. Most of these eBooks don’t provide any worth-reading material. Please usually purchase these type of things to use the affiliate program, but I’m positive that you may find all the info on Google..

p.s. I may be wrong though, so don’t bash me.

  7. I guess the porpuse of the post was to get feedback about Aaron’s ebook, as long as i haven’t read it i can’t help you, but about your second questions if you should start to promoting it i give you the following suggestions:

    - you already sold two copies as an affiliate, maybe you get the ebook with this earnings. Reinvest them buying the ebook !
    - if the ebook is ok, start to promote it man, if you sold two copies wihtout hard work, think what you can get promoting it as you are able…

    just my two cents

  8. I bought Aaron’s book about an year ago. It was one of the best investments I’ve ever made. I have read it, re read it, and printed it out and made a booklet out of it. There is a ton of actionable information.

If you have the slightest amount of interest in succeeding online, you can make it with the info in that book. I don’t necessarily mean as an SEO.

  9. I think the book is absolutely fantastic. It’s taught me lots of interesting techniques and information, as well as some sites that I should visit. Yes, it does have an affiliate program and it does cost quite a bit to some bloggers, but it’s money well spent. People who just pass this book up as another ‘annoying and pointless ebook’ need their head looking at.

  10. I’ve purchased the e-book quite a while ago, and like Nick says, it is absolutely fantastic! Aaron really knows this stuff, and he will provide you with free updates when they are needed, so that you stay current. (Well, if you take the trouble to *read* the material, of course…)

Not true at all. While there are many hyped-up, fluff-filled “e-books” out there, this isn’t one of them. Aaron Wall’s SEO Book contains a *lot* of valuable information, and you shouldn’t bash it if you haven’t read it!

P.S.: I’m *not* an affiliate myself, so I have nothing to “gain” from the above…

  11. SEO Book is the only pure SEO site that I read daily and I really enjoy it.

Speaking of which, some of the above comments where recently featured there!

Aaron is an authority in this area. I take all SEO advice somewhat with a grain of salt, but I’ve developed a trust for what Aaron has to say.

And like I said above, I think I would buy it if it were available as an actual book, but probably not as an eBook.

  12. I bought Aaron’s book a year or so ago and it’s the only eBook I’ve ever bought. I bought it because 1) he makes excellent observations and points on his blog (which is free) and 2) “100% No-Hassle Money Back Guarantee” (though I never used it). $79 for this is a steal and it’s valuable because it gets you up to speed without having to read through all the forums, blog posts, noise, etc. to get the basics down. I bet all the information in it is available in one form or another for free but it’s not organized and codified into one document that is easy to scan and search. Paying $79 for that shouldn’t be expensive if you’re serious about this; if you’re not sure if you’re serious then read Aaron’s blog and all the other resources for free until you can afford to become serious about it.

  13. I purchased the SEO Book early in 2007 as I started trying to learn the in’s and out’s of SEO for a personal website. I found it to be a very good all in one summary of SEO tools and techniques. Was it worth the money? Absolutely.

Using Aaron’s book I was able to take my website from 600 to 14 in approximately 100 days on Google. In fact that post caught the attention of WebProNews and they did an interview with me, Aaron Wall and John Chow on how to get a blog or site to move up.

You can view my video on this subject if you visit my blog. I referenced Aaron’s book quite a few times as well as others that I have learned from on the web.

Also, when I had a question about something in the book I would email Aaron and every time he responded. Now that I look back, some of the info is very basic but there is a lot of info that is not really mainstream that can be a tremendous help.

I highly recommend anyone wanted to undertake an SEO project on their own to purchase this ebook.

  14. I also purchased Aarons eBook a couple years back and have to say that the high price tag made me think about it a while before I went and purchased it. I did not regret the purchase at all to this day, quite the opposite, I recommend it to people. I know a lot more about SEO today, in part thanks to Aaron and his book.

If you expect “a” book, you will be surprised, it’s like with the original “Lord of the Rings”, which was also “a” book, before it was broken down into three parts for commercial reasons. You get the idea.

The updates are still treasures for me today. Some of the resources Aaron found make a good addition to my own collection of Internet marketing resources on my site at cumbrowski.com.

If you are serious about SEO (which takes time and energy and is not done in one afternoon via a quick fix), I suggest to buy the ebook. If you regret the purchase, let me know and I will refund the money to you myself. I am not kidding.
