What Happened To Career Builder?
Career Builder, CareerBuilder.com, Job Search, Yahoo Jobs
My wife and I have been looking around and trying to help our daughter find a nice part time job for after school and we decided to go to CareerBuilder.com. I haven’t been to that site in years but I was very surprised to see how much spam is in there. It was terrible. I had a friend of mine who was looking for information on forklift operator training and I had no clue, so I decided to just build the site he was looking for.
There are more bogus job offers such as work at home and get rich stuff rather than real jobs! I was amazed. All these years I have been thinking that CareerBuilder.com was a good resource to find a job and man… it is terrible. I kind of feel bad for people who turn to CareerBuilder.com towards looking for a job. A resource that I found to be slightly better was Jobs.Yahoo.com.

Yeah I have a resume uploaded to careerbuilder but nothing has ever come from it. I get weekly spam mails from them about all the exciting work at home offers and occasionally a few real job listings. But I have never been contacted personally by a real company, I guess that has something to do with my resume.
I wonder how many people that have used the free version have had success. I know that you can pay to have your account upgraded and your resume advertised in front of more companies.
You could always check out CraigsList, yeah there is a lot of spam on there too, but CraigsList dwarfs every other job site out there in terms of overall jobs. I have heard a few success stories from people finding jobs on there. Plus you don’t have to deal with ads.

I used CB to recruit new candidates and recently stopped. I quit them because they end up letting spammers send emails to employers. I was getting up to 50 spam mails per day of headhunters saying, “check out this candidate”
It’s poop!
I’m going back to the good old fashioned newspaper.

I tried all the services, Dice, CareerBuilder, Yahoo, etc, etc. Nothing ever came up with them. I even had my resume professinonly done. I stayed where I was at and started doing this on the side.

Career Builder is a WASTE, use it if you want spam and frauds. I was out of work a couple of years ago and posted there. I even paid the extra $$$ for their premium resume service. The only contacts I received where work at home and make $6k a month crap. Not to mention numerous frauds, you know the bank transfer scams. I’m an IT professional and the searches turned up hits like “Insurance Manager”, “Truck Driver”, etc. Career Builder is a scam and should be put out of business IMO. Anyway the best results I received where from Dice and Monster. The job I have now (BTW which I love) they pulled my resume off of Monster.
Do yourself a favor and avoid Career Builder, I actually had to change my email address due to the Spam generated from them.
