In this post I am going to write purely from the heart but before I go into much detail I just want to say that this has been a long time coming. As millions of bloggers have an online place they that can call a virtual home, I have never had that and lately I think that has taking a toll on me. What the hell is Garry Conn doing? Well, to make a long story short, I am rebuilding the blog I can call my virtual home.
I enjoy the thrill and get a lot of personal satisfaction with making money on the Internet, designing blogs and web sites, learning about search engines and being successful with Internet marketing. Ironically, I enjoy teaching people how to do these things even more. However, there is so much more to me as a person. I appreciate so many things in this world but I don’t have a channel to creatively express that. Blogging is entertaining, fun and therapeutic for many people and I feel like I have cheated myself from experiencing the true joys of having a blog.
The effects of this have resulted in me being less of the person I should be. While this might sound terrible, recognizing this it is actually very good. I am not a psychologist or anything like that, but one thing is for sure, I listen to what my mind tells me and I act on what it says. Some situations I act quicker than others, but all in all, I listen to my mind. Unfortunately, the same can not be said for many in this world, but that’s beside the point.
Just like a computer operating system, sometimes you have to just backup your data, reformat the hard drive and reinstall the operating system. I’d like to believe that is what I have done to my blog tonight. Things were getting out of hand in many ways; I was getting carried away and too wrapped up into things. I have no shame in admitting this, perhaps in due time someone can learn from this. Quite honestly, what you see here now is the result of a Plan B. If I had executed Plan A, you’d be gazing on a 404 page cannot be displayed instead.
This is my personal blog. I will have this blog my entire life. When I die, this blog will be given to my son, Garry L. Conn, III. From there, he will do what he chooses with it; that of course, God Willing, will be many years from now. The point I am making is this, I don’t want to be caught up and limit my freedom of having a blog tied to one topic, especially the MMO niche.
To be honest, I can’t stand the make money online niche. The true experts of this niche are in a different realm than you may realize. They are true business professionals and highly educated and social people. Everyone else either pretends to be successful or are successful by their acts of trickery, deceit, and shady practices.
I don’t fall into any of the above categories. I am not very educated, I am definitely not very social, I don’t pretend to be successful and I have gained my level of success through very hard work rather than following by trend and being deceitful. Luckily but regretfully, I caught myself falling into the evils traps of the make money online niche.
For about 72 hours I fell deep into the spiraling trap and started to look at people as objects who have money that I wanted in my pocket. Who doesn’t want more money? I don’t know anyone who would pass up free money. However, exploiting the ignorance of people to get money isn’t something I want to participate in.
Regretfully, for a brief moment in time, I was no better than the typical deceitful person I despise. And that, my friends, is a scary feeling. And too, that is a huge contributing factor towards my reformat and reinstall. Many people don’t have the inner connection within their minds to recognize things like this. Many people just act on their desires without any regard or care for others. In other words, many people are selfish, especially those within the make money online niche. I am not about that. I am someone different.
So yet again… being a regular reader and follow of Garry Conn dot Com, please reach up and hold onto the bar, as you are about to go on yet another ride. This new journey will be something I think you’ll enjoy. I still plan on helping you learn more about blogging, making money online and optimizing your site for search engines and such; however, I am now free and clear to do it the way I want. I am also free and clear to write about all the other things I enjoy, find entertaining and useful. I think you’ll get as much out of reading what I write as I get out of publishing what I write. Only time will tell.
One thing is for sure, my blog, my personal and virtual home on the Internet, will not be limited to labels, it will not provide deceitful information and the content found within will always come from the heart. I hope to gain more and more readers because of that. I believe after 13 months, I can finally call this place my virtual home.

I love the new look and glad you were able to come up with something for GCDC, I had a feeling you’d be able to figure it out. Now just think you can become a “Daddy Blogger.” hehe

I agree, love the simplicity. By the way, congrats on the new BlogTheInternet look.

WTH happened Garry??
Is this the Blogfather 3?
Anyway I really enjoy your writing and advice. And it’s cool that you are someone who’d sit back and relook at yourself from time to time.
Cheers!

Wow, that is what I love about your writing. You can take an idea and really put it into words. You have pretty much said what I have been going through for the last 60 days.
I have consolidated some blogs, killed some blogs and decided to focus on the ones that reflect a true passion from me.
Thanks, Garry, great article and I am in 100% support of your efforts.

Hi Garry,
This is also what I did when I moved my blog from blogspot to my own domain. I didn’t plan on doing it, it just happened. I went from writing mostly topics about money and started adding in stuff that interests me. Now my make money posts are not so often and I’m a much happier blogger. The stress of writing about a topic I’m not an expert in was huge. Now I write about anything I like because I know there are other people who will like it too. Sometimes I don’t write if I don’t want to or if am too busy. No stress. It leaves me more time to explore other areas of online income. If I had known the tides were changing on my blog I would have chosen a different domain name. lol
I know you’ll be successful with your readers no matter what you’re writing about.

That’s what I love about you, my friend. You’re honest and you’re real.
I love the site design, but more than that, I love the fact that you’re not afraid to tell people the truth. That’s why you’ve got such a large following.
The thing about your virtual home is that it’s like being at home. It’s comfortable and there’s always a good conversation going on with the occasional bickering going on for good measure.

Garry,
Not only do you inform, you get us all excited! At first I thought you were writing your swan song, but now I know we are in for more treats.
There are a great many of us that lean on you and look forward to all of your news. The getting rich theme I have scaled back some though.
My new goal is to be able to make enough, to hire someone, to scoop the cat turds out of the litter box, before my doggies eat them. Then I shall have inner peace.
All the very best to you in all your meaderings.

You guys are awesome… I am so happy to see how much you guys agree. Wow…
@ HM3,
Daddy Blogger, huh? That’s cool. Last night in IM you dropped me a URL or two of suggested blogs to read. The more I think about it, that would be a great idea for a post on your blog.
@ Althaf,
Thanks! Blog The Internet does look pretty cool, I think it’s safe to admit that, however too… I am going to do some minor changes on that site with regard to the content I publish on it.
@ YC,
LOL… don’t lie! You wanted to say “F” but substituted for the “H”. LOL!! Hey, nothing wrong with re-looking at oneself, as long as you don’t break the mirror, you should be good to go.
@ David Cooley,
Thanks so much man… that means a lot. I have never been really much for target practice, but I am going to be going out back and shooting down a few of my blogs too.
Thanks for your support. I think this article truly hit home with the people who have read it, including yourself. I just found myself getting too wrapped up and when that happens, you’ve got to push that big red, “restart” button and reevaluate what you’re doing. I have a lot of answers, but when I learn a few myself, it usually hits home pretty hard and quick.
@ Laura,
The stresses of writing about MMO are high. And for me it’s always been a challenge to make a little money on GCDC while also being a trustworthy person is extremely challenging. Money is freaking evil, but we all need it to live. Because of that, it is so easy to get wrapped up in it, most people forget what is important. Sometimes people come around, others don’t.
I’ll still provide killer blog tips and MMO tips I’m sure… but too I am going to start writing about the true things that zoom in and out of my mind. I think people will enjoy as I am somewhat whacked in the head.
@ Christine Senter,
OMG… you would know too… from the “F%$& this and screw that venting conversation I had with you in IM the other night and then for you to come here and see this. Total 180, huh?
You’re very right… A virtual home should be a reflection of a home you either have or want to have. There is nothing wrong with blogging about money and all that; however, when you’re a writer (if I am really called that) who enjoys expressing interesting things on paper (or digital bits and bytes) but is limited to only a few topics, you tend to get a little crazy as your creative receptors start going ape shit from having the need to expel. LOL!!!
@ Dick Hillenbrand,
Oh man that is so funny that I have to blockquote it:
I laughed pretty hard after reading that… Hey!! Don’t forget about hiring a toe jam licker, I hear that this can be is pretty damn therapeutic.

Hey Garry,
sorry I don’t respond much anymore, but the new job is taking up so much of my time.
But I am glad to have read this post, I was always trying to figure out what you were trying to say over the last few weeks, people could sense there was something welling up inside you. It at first came across as burn out, maybe stress, whatever, but now I see it was just frustration at not being able to truly express yourself without pitching something to the public.
Here’s a little quote that I found to be helpful..
A sense of purpose is not something that you find; it’s something that you are.
Truth is not something that you look for; it’s something that you live.
Well it looks like you realized your purpose and who you are, and I say congratulations. Looking forward to reading more about how Garry Conn really is, and I will keep reading you B.T.I site for the tips.

A great move in my opinion. Many of us have managed to get to know you in a small way due to your amazingly open help and guidance.
I am an avid reader and will enjoy getting to know you a little more.
I also wanted to promote your you as you asked a while back and was wondering if you would be interested in doing an email interview that I can publish, obviously with links to your sites that you want to get some extra links to.

Garry you ain’t just one of productive writers on the net, i think another calling should be attached on you…most active blogger who changes its theme often…lol
glad to know that there’s still a man who owns the opportunity to grasp advantage from other’s ignorance, prefer to ignore the opportunity and follow its heart calling.
congratulate ya!

Okay Garry, you asked for it. Now this is just a small daddy blogger list but here it is: http://homemom3.blogspot.com/2008/02/list-of-daddy-bloggers.html

It is nice to read a post with such class. I once performed a turn around on direction and it led me to my current profession. I guess it is easier to run than just pull yourself up and push on. Great attitude!

I’ve always thought of your blog as a personal blog. You like me get a kick out of helping people, but at the end of the day it is your blog. I myself choose not to express my self on my blog. I’ve never really liked the thought of people prying deep into my personal life
Date/Time: 2-11-2008 22:25:25 Comment #11238
Thanks for the added comments everyone. It would take me way long to address them individually, but I do appreciate them. You all are very supportive and amazing. Thank you!

Wow… interesting change of directions. I think having a personal blog is excellent and if you don’t want to be in the MMO niche then obviously this is the best choice for you.
I like the simplified look, but I also liked the old look.
Keep in touch and stay true to your beliefs.
Blessings,
George
