Where Do Bloggers Like To Eat Pizza and Drink Beer?

I am a big time pizza fan. What can I say? It’s my favorite food and I am a serious pizza critic. I am very picky and opinionated about pizza. My family and I packed up today and went to our local Old Chicago Restaurant for the first time and I have to say that the experience wasn’t all that bad. The server was very friendly and kept my drink filled and the restaurant was overall very clean and well kept and the food wasn’t all that bad either.

For those who have never been to Old Chicago, you might want to see if one is close by to where you live. They have locations in 22 US States and the only one in Tennessee is located in my hometown of Clarksville! One of the cool things that you might enjoy the most about Old Chicago is the beer. They claim to have over 110 different brews. I’ll leave you with a few pictures of my family and I at Old Chicago and a few at the park, feel free to drop a comment and tell me where you like to eat pizza. We’re not beer drinkers, so I hate to disappoint your party, we had soft drinks. :)

This is my wife Angie and daughter Savannah. They look like twins. In this picture Savannah is laughing because she threw some food at her mother. I captured the moment. :)

This is my goofball son Garry III, soon to be MLB player, or so he thinks… although he really is an awesome baseball player. He has made the Little League All-Stars team three years in a row. In addition to his normal Little League, he also plays on a travel baseball team. He loves baseball.

Here is a picture of dad and son. He sure is getting big, he has a big appetite too. He ordered the steak with shrimp and fries with a garden salad.

IMG00015

Here is a picture of dad and Jaymie. She turned two in April and just like her older brother, she has a very large appetite too. She ordered the chicken fingers, fries, garden salad and insisted on picking at dad’s pizza.

Here is a picture of Old Chicago in Clarksville Tennessee. This is the only Old Chicago located in Tennessee. If you’d like to change that, you can look into Old Chicago’s Franchise Opportunities.

The good old 2001 Dodge Caravan (aka free kid shuttle service). Take note of the hat Jaymie is wearing. Just like the American Express card, Jaymie never leaves home without it. We bought that hat for her months ago during our Disney family vacation in Orlando Florida. I wrote a blog post about our trip and it is actually a PR4, go figure. LOL I also took some killer pictures of our trip at Disney and wrote a blog post about it and that too is a PR4. Looks like good ol’ Disney could be making me a little green. :)

IMG00025

Jaymie is a trip… she learned how to shush people and she will do it any chance she gets, especially when mom and dad are talking. Once again, take note of the Mickey Mouse hat, she will go absolutely nuts if you take that hat from her.

After we ate at Old Chicago, we decided to burn off some calories at the local park. In this picture Garry III was pointing out to me how he remembered when he was really small and couldn’t even stand and touch the top. Now his head hits it. I too remember that all too well. Kids grow real quick.

IMG00034

Of course, who doesn’t enjoy the park at age two? Age two is one of my personal favorite times to enjoy watching my kids grow. Age two is the year of many discoveries. The ability to successfully communicate verbally starts to really kick in, which lessens their frustration as they are able to precisely tell you their needs and wants and express feelings of all aspects of emotions including anger, happiness, shock, enjoyment and disapproval. Being a parent and witnessing the lives of your children at age two is quite surreal.

IMG00037

Age two is really cool because you get to witness the simple things that amazes kids such as Jaymie discovering a big black ant crawling up this tree. To me, moments like that are priceless because they only happen once per child and this moment will never happen again until our next child is born. Which Angie and I will have to wait patiently for two years to see. :)

IMG00035

Don’t ask how I got her to pose like that. I don’t even know… I guess I got lucky. Almost looks like some kind of football pose? She is strong enough to play football you know. :) She’ll probably be like her older sister and enjoy playing softball and her older brother playing baseball.

And there you have it… age 15, age 10, age 2 and soon to be baby boy in October. His name will be Casey Conn.

We don’t have any Old Chicago’s in Ohio unfortunately. That’d be great. My husband is a HUGE fan of chicago style pizza, which we can’t find anywhere near us. We eat pizza once a week, lol. Especially on hot days when I don’t want to turn the oven on and cook.

Great pictures. You’re right. Age 2 is great. My youngest just turned three a week ago. My kids are 3, 7, 8, 11 and my stepkids are 15 and 12. Congrats on the baby.

This is a fantastic post. It shows us a side of Garry Conn that I have never seen. Loving Father and then MMO blogger, keep up the great work..

Garry, you have a beautiful family! Thanks for sharing your family night out. You’re right that 2 is a great age for watching our children’s development, but also requires much energy on the parent’s part. When the baby comes, you will have two each…every other child. My kids were born in a pattern too: b, b, g, b, b, g. lol

I’ve never heard of Old Chicago but we have just about every other franchise in our over-developing area. ;)

Old Chicago is certainly some good pizza! We have a place here called Mello Mushroom that delivers the best pizza in the Raleigh NC area in my opinion.

Cool family pics Gary! Tons of respect for the family man! ;)

Wow Garry, what a wonderful family you have. You are for sure a lucky guy. Thanks for sharing all this, I really enjoyed it, as someone mention it before – I am glad that you have provided us with the insight in your family side.
(By the way you might wanna check Bobby Revell’s site I think it’s down again).

That is the coolest post you’ve ever done. You’re family is gorgeous.

I work in a pizza joint, but we’re no Chicago Pizza. Just a little mom and pop place in the sticks. It’s the only place to get pizza in a 30 mile radius. And we don’t serve beer, just soda, tea, and coffee.

I think it’s cool that you took the time to show off your family side. It’s important that the world knows that you’re not just an extention of your computer, but a real person with family values.

    This is a great post.

I like bloggers that offer a look inside their lives, thanks for sharing.
Personally, I’m all for pizza and beer… I usually only drink beer while driving though.

    … kidding, kidding. :D

I love this post Garry, very personal, nice touch. You notice those PR4s are your family entries, wonder if this will be too. You’ve got a nice family and happy to hear ya’ll have a name for the wee one. :) We don’t have a “Old Chicago” out here, but we do love our pizza. Like you though we are really picky, so it is hard to find one. Oh and two is my favorite age, I don’t find them to be terrible at that age like the theory goes. Instead they become nutty at 3 lol. At least that’s when they get the whole, “I can do it myself” attitude, then they come back at 4.

Garry! It’s great when all the members of the family go to the nearest cafe to eat out, to have fun, just to be together… You are a father-hero!!

  12. Forest says:

A nice, side post, from all the information….. Garry many MMO bloggers post like this 6 days a week and give info on one. This is the first personal post I remember since he Disney one.

I don’t have any kids so have no idea what it is like but I bet it is a riot :) . It’s very cool to see your family.

As for Pizza…. We have a quick take out place here in Montreal called Al Tahib which is fantastic and only $1.50 a slice. I have been trying to perfect my Pizza dough for months now (it’s just like testing Adsense position for me…. just change a little at a time) and it is getting better but still not there…….

2 cups flour, spoon of baking soda, 1 egg, 1/2 cup milk and water, a little salt and sugar.

Anyone got any improvements to that recipe?

The secret is in the fresh mozzarella !

And of course in my neighborhood there isn’t an “Old Chicago”, but a lot of “Bella Napoli”… LOL

      ciao from Italy

Great to see another side of Garry Conn and thanks for introducing us to your family, it was good to meet them!

I love Pizza, when I make it to America, I’ll buy you one! :D
