Why Should I Give My Make Money Online Secrets For Free?
What I Said…
- I just completed a 60 minute video that shows you from start to finish on how I build niche blogs.
- This 60 minute video pretty much reveals all my secrets and all my skills.
- I am hesitant to release the video. Granted, I am going to charge money for this download, but that isn’t the concern.
- The concern is revealing everything in this video and showing you everything I do.
- I will ponder on whether I release this video.
What You Said…
- I really think you should give it free.
- A free 30 min version with a paid full 60 min version.
- It would be great if you would give it for free.
- Something free with meat and potatoes, would be nice for a change.
- If you do it for free I would be particularly happy.
- Most of us might be a tad disappointed to pay a fee.
- Maybe release the video for free for your readers.
- Release a smaller [screen size] version of your video for free.
- Gary delivers frequently and usually for free.
- You have so much to offer, I think releasing it free.
- As much as I’d love to get it for free.
- Give it away for free.
- I’d like you to give it away for free.
- The free information you provide have been very useful to me.
- This video will be a great Christmas gift.
- Give the video away for FREE.
Maybe We Have A Problem With Communications…
- When your toilet breaks and fills up with crap and you call the plumber… do you expect him to fix it for free?
- When your roof is leaking from rain and you call for roof repair… do you expect this service to be done for free?
- When your mortgage payment is due at the end of the month… do you expect your bank to pay it for you and let you live in your house for free?
- When you car doesn’t run well anymore and you need to have service done… do you expect the mechanic to perform his work for free?
- When you want to get a new Macbook Pro and you go to the Apple Store… do you expect them to give you one for free?
Maybe I Should Speak A Little Clearer…
- Why should I help you, if you don’t want to help me?
- Why should I provide a service to you if you don’t feel like you should pay me in return?
- Why should I teach a skill that rewards me very well to people who don’t want to show me gratitude?
- Why do you expect me to provide you something for free when equivalent things in life cost tons of money?
- Why should I continue to help you, knowing that you wouldn’t do the same thing for me if the tables were turned?
Maybe You Can Teach Me Somthing For a Change…
First off, I am not angry, I simply want to dig into your brain and learn your thought process and logic. I mean really, if I can learn this mindset that you have, then I seriously think that I will empower new skills that will allow me to never have to pay for groceries, car payments, mortgage payments, house repair servies, gasoline, or college for my kids…
Drop me a comment, I serioulsy look forward to engaging into a discussion with you.

hahahah good one Garry, bottom line…people are cheap. Thats’ s why I said either do limited release, or something similar. People always love free stuff, but it has value in their minds, and can help in the direction they want to go…peeps will pay for it.
You know what it is Garry? You don’t mess around, I’ve come to realize a lot of people like hype, magic button, do it for you products. If your product indicates any type of work…many will just move to the next golden goose egg lol.
I threw it in for good measure…but I don’t think it should be free…heck, I told you that before about the stuff you give out lol. But, I just think it lacks the “diamond encrusted poop” that most look for lol.
I know how hard you work, and I know your results, I constantly refer people to your site if they want to learn niche blogging, period. It’s hard to turn folks that are used to all the free goodness you give out…into buyers.
Especially in a blog setting. I say you start working on that huge list you got man…cultivate them into customers.
You’ll never get away from those wanting freebies and peeps thinking you owe them something, it’s just how life is man lol.
I still think you should use it as a form of coaching man….peeps seeking your advice…you sell them this video as part of your training.
It may help qualify peeps that will actually use it….giving it out free…well, you know how that goes for the most part. It will site on many hard drives.
I think you should release some sort of trailer ( like movies have), set a price . Then let people decide whether they want it or not.
If i am not wrong the same thing happened when you asked your readers about the ads on your blog and took a decision based on what they thought.
. Just offer and let people decide.
I think you have a great site in blogging questions dot com. Leave all your questions for it
Here is what I think about your product:
There is absolutely no doubt about your credentials and talent but if you could discuss the product in some detail may be , in a blog post it would be great,
In the last post you wrote :
This video walks you through finding and registering a domain name, installing WordPress, building a niche WordPress theme, performing all my SEO tricks, and writing powerful content geared specifically for pulling rank in the search engines.
I think you talked us through picking a domain in the last video, installing Wordpress isn’t really that hard, you already offer us your adsense ready theme, and as far as I remember in the last video you also shared your views of getting content from sources like amazon.
I hope I am wrong but by the looks of it the only thing in your description that you have not offered us is the SEO thing.
Garry, there has to be an introduction, may be a 2 or 3 minutes long video or a 500 word post would just be great to help us second our decision of buying your video.
Hey Gary!
First of all, lets talk about what kind of information we will receive from your video that you haven’t shared with us already. Look at your list of Premium Tutorials and top 20 Topics.
You’ve been very generous with information in the past.
What ever happened to some of your posts costing $1?
Do you consider this an exact step by step system?
Why would you ever divulge secrets that could cause more competition?
As far as the mentality of the internet marketing community that everything should be free,
well
shouldn’t it be?
Thanks!
Let me try and focus on this in the same way I used to do at work, and treat it as a case study.
The basic issue is; Should I divulge all of my Internet Marketing Secrets?
PROS
1 It will make me some more money
2 It will increase my readership and followers
3 It will increase my credibility in the marketplace/niche as an expert
4 It will open up doors to new opportunities
5 It will empower and educate those that use the product
6 It will increase my self worth as a person
7 It will increase the quantity and quality of my business/personal relationships
8 It will take me closer to the lifesytle I desire
9 It will allow me to test & verify the soundness of my tactics/ideas
10 It will increase the numbers of marketers willing to pay for my advice
CONS
1 I might be placing all my eggs in one basket
2 It might flood the market with new experts & reduce my income
3 What I perceive as secrets might already be out there
4 My content might not be truly unique
5 I may not uncover any more secrets once I reveal them all
6 I might hit the limit of how many videos I can sell too early
7 It might harm my credibility if the content is not truly unique
8 If users buy it yet are not successful it might harm my reputation
9 My Unique Selling Proposition may not be enough
This is how I would approach the “basic issue”.
You need to make your own list, weigh the pros and cons, and make an informed decision based on your version of the pros and cons in an objective manner.
This is how I was taught to make sound decisions regarding difficult and complex business problems.
Hope it is of some help
Garry,
Some people are stupid, lazy, cheap and want something for nothing. It’s as simple as that. Ignorant people will make ignorant requests. Like I commented in the last post – It seems as though a few years of your hard work has culminated into the content for this video, anyone who thinks that should be free is out of their mind. Sooo many people don’t even think twice about charging $30-40 dollars for a total B.S. ebook, and from following your site for a few months I know your content is very worthwhile.
You can’t explain/understand stupidity and ignorance, don’t even try. If you decide to sell your video (which I think you should) just charge a price and don’t look back!! Let people say what they will, and consider the source of the people asking for freebies.
I hope I can buy this in the near future, a bought a bunch of your other atricles without even blinking.
-Brian
Garry you did what media do every day: you took a snippet out of context to proof a thesis.
I’ll say it immediately that I totally agree to the fact that you have to charge for your stuff: in change of value (your stuff) there must be given value (for example money). I said that more times, for example about nearly exactly a year ago as you were thinking about releasing an ebook, or recently as you decided to publish posts for which browser-readers have to pay, BUT the statement number 5 (which is mine
) originally was:
cutting the second half of my sentence, has put me in the group of the persons which want rob your value and that really relates with me.
Another point why you should charge for your stuff is that people tend to not recognize and really value the value that is given away for free. For example take a look at the 3 posts with the niche keyword analysis you did: go back and take a look at how many domainnames you’ve suggested and how many has been registered and (even worse) has been developed. For example for the last one about moving truck rental up to a couple of weeks ago (last time i checked) there has been only one domain registered.
Garry, on this blog and with your upcoming video, you’re going to give an idea, a project, a business plan for making money, but in order to transform this into a success or real money there are other points that miss. The biggest problem is that most people:
1. want to make money without doing hard work, but it REQUIRES hard work
2. fail to take action
3. doesn’t have the right mindset: you have to be persistent , you have to think that you CAN do it, you have to have a goal, focus on it and your actiona have to be congruent with it.
People who isn’t willing to pay some money for knowing your unique way of making money, will never commit to go thru this hard additional 3 steps. That’s why i confirm once again, that you should charge for it.
As long as we’re talking about creating, providing and charging value, I want to share with you Garry, because you are a special person and I really care about you and your readership, three long and valueable posts for which I’ve been up long hours last night to read them. The author is Steve Pavlina:
1. How to Make Lots of Money During a Recession
2. How to Create Real Value
3. Calibration

Oh Geez….not yet another one of these Garry Conn meltdowns?
You do this all the time…if you don’t want to be a blogger then quit blogging. If you resent your readers…then quit blogging.
Whatever you choose to do…..quit writing these whiney, smarmy, pussy posts like this where you are aching for everyone to reach out and say Oh No garry…please don’t quit…we love you.
Give us a break.
Well Garry ….. I said that you shouldn’t release it.
Of course I would love to see it but considering how helpful you have been to me in the past I have to honestly say that you might be divulging too many of your project creating secrets.
If you do release it then charge well for it. I will be one of your first customers.
FREE FREE FREE ~ as you say yourself most ppl want it for free despite you saying that you will charge if you release it.
The bottom line is can you and your business afford to have the information contained in your video released? If it can’t ….. archive it. If it can ….. charge high … those who know your quality of work will gladly and willingly pay for it.
Interesting times Garry …..
Im willing to buy it ,send me the link asap!!!!!
Spongebob said to gary: “Thanks for sharing the secrets!!” If the demand is high for your video then charged it high but if not, you need to place it in the archives.
He he. Just sell it man, like I said.
Just tell me where, when and how much.

Garry,
I haven’t chimed in on this one yet, but now that I see what most of the feedback was, I’m not surprised.
Everyone wants to get something for nothing. I’m starting to get some of this on my blog too. I have an “Advertise” link with payment options for advertisements, product reviews, etc, but I STILL get a half dozen e-mails a day saying, “Hey, Chris, why don’t you sign up for this /buy this and review it on your blog for us?”
If you rely on us (“the people”) to set the precedent, you will be disappointed every time. YOU need to be the one to set the bar where you want it. It’s YOUR blog, so OWN it. (I mean that in the nicest way possible).
I, for one, would PAY for your guide…as long as it’s not something like “1) Pick a niche, 2) Go do some keyword research, 3) Create a bog, 4) Put some ads on it”
Where I get ticked is when I pay for something that “reveals secrets” and it’s the most basic guide ever put together. (Hello, Arbitrage Report) We want DETAILS…and LOTS of them.
Fight the good fight!
Garry,
Your post is just to stir up discussion, right?
How many of your readers that responded to the original post want your video for free? Personally, I would have spent my energy on the people that are willing to compensate you for your knowledge and hard work, and are serious about hard work and making a living from the internet.
“Why should I continue to help you, knowing that you wouldn’t do the same thing for me if the tables were turned?”
How many people actually told you this?
I for one would be forever grateful to you if you share information – paid or free – that will enable me to work toward financial freedom, and if I know of a way to repay you I would. From reading comments left on your blog, I think most of your readers feel the same way.
You are obviously a smart guy and you know your way around the internet. You should be able to present the video in such a way that will benefit you while helping the rest of us.
So tell us how we can help you when you help us.
Sincerely,
Eric

Oh come on Eric, use your brain and your creativity !
Think about what could be of value to Garry.
Just some hints to get you unstuck:
1. post a comment/pm/im thanking him when you got something from of value for you
. That are a lot of mouths to feed, bodys to cover with clothes and brains that have to go to school. Make him an unsolicited donation thru Paypal, his account is garryconn@gmail.com
2. post a comment with your points of improvement
3. post a comment sharing your success (if any) with the tecniques he taught you
4. tell your friends about Garry’s blog
5. submit to the social networks everytime you get a post that adds value to you
6. write a post on your blog about Garry
7. Send him a gift
8. Make him the birthday greetings the 19th of January
9. Garry isn’t prolific only at posting, he has 4 children too
I’ve done all of this at least once and I’ve to say that i still got more from him than what I’ve given.
Just 2 recent examples on how a nice guy Garry is:
1. about 2 weeks ago we have had a chat of nearly 2 hours on Gtalk and he was in such a flow telling me a lot of the stuff he usually does to make money. I directed him to the last blog I’ve created and he kept providing me inputs. I was overflowed, i kept the information come and it took me several days to look into the chat registration at all that stuff and implementing them.
2. this week he sent me an unsolicited donation thru Paypal (yes HE to me)

Hi Garry,
I don’t think there’s a break down in communication. You sent out an email to your list asking a specific question about a video you made that wasn’t seen by anyone yet. Is it too revealing? does it show too many of your trade secrets? whatever whatever.
Plumbers don’t call you up saying i got a video that can save you lots of money, roofers don’t say i got a video so you can do your own repairs, mortgage lenders don’t supplied you with videos showing how to get approve for loans, mechanics don’t call you up either with videos showing how to do your own repairs.
You did email your list with these statements,
“I need your help. More so, I need your opinion on something. I created a 60 minute high quality video that will show you how I build niche blogs. In this video, I basically walk you through from start to finish on building one of my most profitable type of niche blog. That is the Deal Blog.,
“I’d like to talk with you about this and collect your feedback about it. I am hesitant to release the video. It is completely finished, and all I need to do is upload it to my server and provide you with a download link”
Lets be real if you going to ask someone whether they want something for free or want to pay for it what you expect them to say.
If you feel that giving away your trade secrets is going to cut into your paper chase then don’t do it, sell it. Those who want it will buy it, those who don’t will b**ch and complain as always.
In the end its your decision to provide your information however you want too.
Selling it won’t stop me from coming to your blog for quality information. You give good info and you’re one of the few marketing blogs that does so.
God Bless,
Joseph
Garry,
I contacted you off line and never mentioned the word Free. There is no way in the world you should give this away for free unless you have something even better to sell that complements the free video. Don’t worry about all the requests for “free”, just sell it at a good price and people will buy it. Those who don’t buy it will miss out…
Oh, and I hope the government gives me a free house soon. I heard that’s what was going to happen when Obama took office… everything was going to be free
Gary,
First off, it is your post and since you asked us our opinions, you got them. Secondly, you could have posted that this video would cost a fee for those who were interested in it.
Overall, the way you did this post is a cleaver link bait as you well know. If you don’t want to give it away for free, then why would you ask for our opinions? It is clear that you want to sell it, but you are going for millage on this one.
If it is something which actually works and isn’t some old hashed over stuff, I would be interested in purchasing it. It would have to have some guarantee for me to consider the purchase.
I do know a little about SEO and blogging. Actually, enough that madmouse.com continues to grow and rank pretty good in the search engines.
I am just plain tried of people selling the same bag of old SEO tips, claiming that its new and the best thing since sliced bread.
My question is, how are you going to show us that this is the real deal?
Make no mistake, people who follow my plan will work their ass off. Plain and simple. Ask Jarret Cade.
You know… speaking of him, I am really proud of him. In the public eye, he is one of the ONLY people I know who invested time digging and trolling around my blog as if it were a book and learning and soaking in the advice I have offered.
Will I release this video? No… I will not, because the information in the video is already in my blog. If one wants to really learn how to do what I do, all they have to do is read the articles I have written.
I tend to always consider what my readers want. I think I am fairly flexible with being accommodating.
I am still doing that actually. Regular readers really wouldn’t know that because I am slowly converting over older posts that get hit by search engine traffic. I doubt I will do this with future content. My new content, I will wait until it gets old and pick the ones that are getting hit the hardest in the search engines.
Thank you Brian… I am glad to hear that you purchased some of my articles. Apply what you have learned after reading them and things will become easier for you.
I did that very quickly and do admit that I unintentionally took yours out of context.
Hi Bill,
LOL! Thanks for your input. Please re-read the post, especially the last paragraph that has, “First off, I am not angry, I simply want to dig into your brain and learn your thought process and logic.”
This is called a discussion, some would call it a debate. Only one seeming to be melting down is you. Would you like for me to get you a glass of water?
I think that you’ll be ok… just take a few moment to breath deeply.
Hi Paddy!
Yes, I know you did… you are awesome and I really value your feedback.
… how can this not look GOOD!!!
(inside joke between Alex and I… for all who don’t get it.)
I was more thinking it was like putting cheese into a mouse trap.
I’m actually trying to shift to this one (uncooked, aka as raw food):
http://www.healthfree.com/images/apples-melon-p.jpg
and I’m learning that one of the toughest things when you make a dietary change is social conditioning: your first “enemy” sits in your family
Garry sincerly, your meal made me really happy. Thanks
ciao
alex
I’m sorry I didn’t reply to your post earlier. Giving out the video for free just as it is is not at all good. You can charge money for it. But in my opinion, it would be best if you asked your readers to do some service for you in exchange for the video or perhaps give the video to only those who have been active on your blog and subscribed to it.
But it is totally your decision. If you are charging for it, then I would say you deserve to charge for it. You pump out great content, so why shouldn’t you make money for putting so much effort into all of this? I would like to know what you are going to do.
Cheers,
Ganesh.
Hi Garry,
Customers don’t always tell you the honest truth but they will always show you by their actions or lack thereof.
You can’t please everyone all of the time and not all will come along for the ride.
The dilemma you have is a rather simple one, isn’t it?
Create Lists:
Buyers and Non-buyers.
The buying language is so…different than non-buying dialog you have with your visitors.
My favorite blog Potpiegirl.com initially gave lots of free information then she slowly stop posting as frequently but gave hints and subsequently total disclosure about her new hangout online which, happened to be inside of a membership.
She does still post to her blog but usually bait the conversation about the great learning experience and professional connections she has made on the other side in a particular affiliate membership site that she’s a part of.
I moved from being a freebie seeker on her blog devouring all of her great lessons ultimately transitioning to buyer based on the value she provides which, is immense I might add.
Bottom line is we all teach people how to treat us.
The conversation on a blog is no different.
The most valuable readers of your blog will raise their hand with their wallet when they’re ready.
The others won’t but will just remain on your non-buyer list until they’re ready.
Cheers!
Or… you can give it for free in a mini site that makes people subscribe to your email address and after the person subscribes it gets one of those classic.. But wait! Here is a limited time offer Get X Adsense Ready Themes with complete instructions completely SEO optimized. And a list of PLR rights stuff for 3000 and slash that number 27 dollars. Then you go on like: only 1278 and again slash that number and say 2 left order now!. And an almost unreadable link with a font of 4 pixels that says no thanks give me my free video at the bottom. I’m just making a joke out the usual squeeze page format. Hey, a lot of people make a ton of money with this tactic while still giving something for free and if the free stuff is good it can go viral easily.
Hi Gary,
I’ve been consuming your site, posts and emails as a means of getting started. First impression is you are providing a valuable service to many, as seen by the depth of content, insights explained in practical terms and feedback from your audience. After seeing the many resources out there , I personally believe your style and approach to the topic is a key factor that appeals to many.
Back to your question, it would seem to be related to the balance between value provided to others and equity to you in return. Other points such as satisfaction and retention are important. Capitalism is a great thing, however you normally get what you pay for… Sell the video and drop me the link and thanks for all the great insights and materials.
Morning G-man, and a big LOL.
When your toilet breaks and fills up with crap and you call the plumber… do you expect him to fix it for free?
Im a plumber and I would not do THAT for free, well unless it was for a friend with benefits, but even then im getting something back.
I personally live in a fairy tale world where everyone is happy and has all their needs provided for them by mana from heaven. In my world we get togethor and sing kumbaya (spelling) hug trees and drink 7 $ lattes. No body charges anybody for anything because well profiting from another is just evil. So we happily make the things we make for nothing and give them away because it fills our hearts with glee. The world I live in is WWW land.
I say package the video, add an ebook instructional thingy with it and sell it for like somewhere between 27$ and 97$.
Email me and let me know where I can buy it.
Ohhh Garry,
Dude! I must have totally misread what you wrote earlier…! Missed the part about “…I am going to charge money for this download…”
So you aren’t going to sell your video, all the “secrets” are revealed in your blog posts anyways… so you were just basically doing an experiment on your readers…? Why not just sell it?
Guess you did get some valuable feedback…?
I totally get where you’re coming from about people expecting free advice but the problem with that is that many(most?) don’t VALUE it & never do anything about it…
Personal Experience:
I was helping one woman set up a blog, giving her a bunch of advice which she never acted on(there was a family issue so I can understand part of the non-action)… then recently I noticed that she had actually set one up(she got help from someone else)… so I wasted a bunch of time
From the same real work brick & mortar business group… I overwhelmed a lady with how to build her business using the Internet… they key advice I gave her was to brand herself and to make sure she recorded(video) all her seminars… as far as I know NADA… again, time wasted for FREE… FREE for them, my valuable time wasted…
I guess my thing was to build credibility with helping real world businesses versus just building strictly Internet-based businesses so I gave the free advice…
What help does Garry need…?
How do you know that if the tables were turned people would not do the same…?
I’m thinking that since this is the “make money online” niche that people really do expect things non-gratus… “isn’t Garry already making tons of money from his blogs… look at the Adsense, TopSpot, banners, etc… he really should be giving us his best stuff for free…”
Why not sell the video?
1. Why should I help you, if you don’t want to help me?
You need help? ; P
2. Why should I provide a service to you if you don’t feel like you should pay me in return?
How much?
3. Why should I teach a skill that rewards me very well to people who don’t want to show me gratitude?
Thanks?
4. Why do you expect me to provide you something for free when equivalent things in life cost tons of money?
If you can tell me where else to go?
5. Why should I continue to help you, knowing that you wouldn’t do the same thing for me if the tables were turned?
Sounds like a movie…
Now I’ll leave you with this…
“But Garry… haven’t you heard?! We’re in a recession right now. Money’s tight you understand. I need to buy Christmas presents for everyone. Give me your video. Thanks.” <==not me btw ; P
God Bless,
Yoon
